I do a co2 tank swap at the local machine shop supply here in Squamish. 180 for for the tank, 20.00 to refill. I'm pretty sure Dan's Homebrew shop has the same swap system.
BTW what's going on at Dan's - business as usual or… anyone know?

Think of it like the mighty riders of homebrew shops. Surly except for off days.:)
I had to laugh one day when I always in Dan's, the gent at the counter was rocking out to metal, andwas super happy and helpful. Then one of the other guys came out of the back and turned it to a James Taylor station, and the happy metal dude became surly and unhappy.
Totally family dynamics and great products as well.

there's certainly a couple humorless bastards in there, yes. what the hell is wrong with people that can't be stoked to be working with home brewers? time to find another vocation. at least feign the appearance you like what you do or gtfo.
Man, I could go on about the customer service…
Any brewers in Squamish want to do a trade? I've got a pretty good IPA on the go right now… growlers are welcome as I don't bottle. PM me.
ok homebrew heads, I fell into having 7 lbs of fresh wet hops today. i am not able to brew until tomorrow or Saturday. will they go bad that quick? or should I put them in the freezer to keep the oils.
I have only used regular dried whole leaf and pellets, so this is new to me.

Awesome addition. one day, I hope to have the kegerator.
and thanks for the info on the hops
harvested my hops. some decent yield now (4 plants, second year). don't think i'd want too many more; picking these things is tedious.

Nice haul.
Through not knowing how to properly use a refractometer for FG, I thought I had a stuck fermentation, but in fact it had finished. As a result, I missed out on ordering fresh hops for wet hopping. Oh well.
Also, I Have had my first infection; looks like it came from fermenting a hefe too warm, and is a lacto infection. Odd thing about it is that it doesn't taste too bad, it's a bit thinner than a hefe, and has a mild sourness to it. I've bottled some and will see how it goes from there.
I just kegged my first Wet Hop Ale today. I had a taste, yum and really looking forward to the finished beer.
Here is the details below, I picked the hops from UBC, so I only have a ballpark of the AA, and it is not as hoppy as I thought. It is a variation on Sierra Nevada's Northern Harvest Ale. Notes below.
