So I'm setting up a home gym. Anyone know of any other haunts that sell used weights? Specifically dumbbells. (A pair of 150 pound dumbbells for $1200 CDN? WTF.)
Kijiji, CL, FB Marketplace are the ones I know of.

Hopefully yours does not turn into a place to hang the laundry like mine did.
Auction shops for out of business gyms as well. Dumbbells are kinda a weird choice for a home gym though, no? The fixed weight ones are expensive and require a shitload to progress at anything, and the adjustable ones always seem janky as shit to me.

Totally forgot about auction houses.. thanks! (Been at this game for 15 years, so know exactly what I want)...
syncro, you ever use those? I wonder about pushing the heavy ones off of my thighs.. looks like it might really suck?
And Stu, if I ever do that, well, there'll be no hope left for me.
(Also found out Walmart & Amazon have your basic Chinese rubber hex ones, but man o man would I like to score a urethane set).
Pffft just buy a set of rings and only do calisthenics.

I don't ever want to weigh 600 pounds though.

We have a set here at the gym. For some things they work great and if you use 25lb plates on them you can make 150lb db's for some heavy curls or tricep extensions. If they're loaded up, resting the end of the DB on your thigh isn't the most comfortable thing in the world. If you're wanting to get them up for shoulder presses then swing them up from a standing position kind of like a clean and then sit down on the bench. You can do the same for incline chest press as well. For flat db bench press it's a bit awkward, but if you get them up to your shoulders, then sit on the end of the bench and then lean back to lay down it works ok. It's not as easy as reg db's but then again training with any sort of intensity isn't supposed to be easy.

Dammit. Are you sure? Isn't there an app that makes it easy?

I hear there's this new thing coming out called electric dumbbells, or e-dumbs. Could be worth a try?

Home gyms usually fail so this^^ is normal
the good news is someone setting up a home gym can probably buy the equipment for cheap
Am I the only one thats going to ask who the fuck is curling 150lbs??
Emai local chain gym HQ's, ask who a wholesaler liquidator is or if they need to move some old items.
What are you doing to squat rack and plates? I would have guessed that to be the big dollar investment.
