i think that religion started off as a pretty good thing, it gave people that were in need of some guidance or help some where to turn too….but then through time and munipulation religion has turned into a massive complex organisation that secrectly runs a large portion of the world, now it causes more bad than good, it still provides guidance and help for people that are in need, but at the same time can be blame for quite a few wars and terrorist attacks, not to mention the whole scandal about the preist and the little boy. Religion at its best can be a good thing. Untill people try and force their beliefs on other people, or kill someone that belives in something else, then youll get the Middle east.
i think there has to be more to religion. think of how many people belive in some form of a religion, if someone could simply learn to link these religions they could practically rule the earth.

Being an agoraphobic adrenaline junkie would be pretty convenient, because you could get your rush from just going to the store to get some milk instead of having to jump off a mountain or out of an airplane.

if homosexuality is such an evil why is not in the 10 commandments?? how could that have slipped up?
yet adultery (sp?) is in the big 10, but fuck, is that an issue in the church today? don't think you get expelled from church for cheating??
_Sexuality is not addressed specifically in the student handbook. But the book does spell out behavior expectations, school President Rich Grimm said before the suit was filed. Parents and students agree to those standards each year in paperwork submitted for admission, he said.
The handbook's conduct code says students' goal should be obeying Scripture and that they should "practice courtesy, kindness, morality, honesty and consideration" with teachers, employees, fellow students and visitors._
That school is for assholes.
They even stated that he failed a couple classes, which was part of their decision. The school should have known he was gay after failing his first class…

The big 10. I'll have to remember one.
Very good point.

I'm religious. I don't follow church though. I interpret it as "be nice to others, don't intentionally hurt anyone" basically be a good person. That's what the bible teaches. I'm not a bible thumper, and I don't really think I believe in a God.
I go to church, I help out at church, I'm active in my church youth group, it's a good community. In general, most churchgoers are kind and caring people. I guess my church is fairly liberal, our bishop being the only Anglican one in the world to support same sex unions.
Knock against all these religious fanatics all you want, I agree it's bad that he got kicked out of the school, but I see the reason in it. Obviously he knew it was frowned upon in the school. What I disagree with is state funding for schools that openly practice discrimination. Regardless of how you look at it, it's discrimination.
That's crap, in my books. They're using the bible nowadays as they used Darwins Evolution of the Species to explain why white's are so much superior to blacks. I wonder how long it will take for the human society to realize they're hypocrites for all this "Blacks are equal" stuff and not for gay rights.
I'm very liberal, just in case you couldnt tell.
- Keefer
Do religion-oriented schools get federal funding? As a part of the seperation of church and state, I'm pretty sure they don't.

While I agree that it is discrimination by the pure definition of the word, I disagree with you on the point that it is like racism. The school did not say that he is not as much of a person as the rest of the students, they removed him for letting people know that he was living a "sinful lifestyle." It is the same thing as if he showed up at school and said, "I'm a Satanist, that's what I believe, and I want you to accept it." Either way, booted from the school. Do I agree with it? Not necessarily. But I do see why it happened.

I personally believe that homosexuality is wrong. I do think that it is sad that he got expelled. I have been pondering this issue lately; namely, what would I do if I was in the position of the school principal? You are faced with two choices: allow a student to live what is considered to be an immoral lifestyle at your school, or expel him and not show him God's love.
First off, I think you'd be hard pressed to find a huge percentage of people now-a-days that consider being homosexual immoral. What should the principal do? Leave the kid be, it isn't effecting him and sure as hell its everyone's personal RIGHT to live as they choose provided that it doesn't harm any other member of society. NO ONE has the right to judge another based on sexual orientation.
