drill the hole,
put however much powder in that it requires, cap it with some stemming (3/4 crush gravel works the best but in the bush you use whatever will go down the holes)
hook it up however you want it timed and let 'er rip.

They were using a similar machine next to the house I was working on in Kadenwood, Whistler 2 years back. Although it didn't have a cab, the operator stood on a platform to move it around. Then the excavator would lay huge tyre mats over it for the actual detonation. Very cool
