I do not normally sup of the conspiratist's tea but the original post has great truth in it.

The world is built on the back of the worker bee's and many years ago there was great efforts put forth to protect them. Over the last 25 years, last 10 especially, we have allowed these previous efforts to become eroded to the point that we now view worker protection organizations as evil.

I do not want to say that unions are the answer or start that debate but with the downfall of them, we have seen conditions deteriorate. Not in the name of company survival but profits. Greed if you will.

On this day at least, remember the labor movement. The people who built your house, car, electronics, farm your food, keep your home powered and warm and are your neighbors if not one of you.

"If we want to rebuild the American middle class, we need strong unions. It[HTML_REMOVED]#8217;s no coincidence that the decline of the middle class began with the decline in union membership. From one-third to one-fifth of the growth in inequality can be explained by the decline of unions, according to a 2011 study in the American Sociological Review by Bruce Western of Harvard University and Jake Rosenfeld of the University of Washington."

The benevolent unions are the clearly the average working man's only hope of fighting off evil corporate America's greedy demands… :stupid: The concept of unions make perfect sense but the real accomplishments of modern unions are furthering the push to overseas solutions.

"It's not a bright picture for labor this Labor Day. Unions are facing not only unprecedented employer opposition, but also the opposition of leading political figures. (Yet) labor is showing some real fight," said Harley Shaiken, a professor of labor studies at the University of California, Berkeley.

"There's a paradox here for labor: Unions have become far more innovative and far more engaged politically. At the same time, their numbers have dropped."]

Ah.. yes. The classic "We white man. Therefore we know better then you Asians" mentality. We tried that once.. it lead to things like blacks as slaves and property.. same for the Irish. And much hostility we see to this day.

You, of all people, shouldn't push "pushing" anything on other countries or cultures. The reality is the unbelievable bloated nature of many of the large unions, particular in the US, costs money - a lot of it. Unions cost labourers a lot more jobs by the simple fact that although it's typically materially cheaper to do business in other countries, the real issue is that the unions are such unwieldy and painful entities that these companies would rather not deal with them.

Actually, there are trade unions forming up in China … and I don't mean the "All China Federation of Trade Unions", the official national union that is just a puppet of the state. Wal-Mart in China has an independent trade union with over 30,000 members. Interesting, as that is pretty much the only place where there is a Wal-Mart employees union, given how hard that company battles to avoid it.

These unions are formed by chinese workers of their own accord, nothing to do with any westerners at all.
