ahhh that brings back old memories..

my dad (RIP). used to have one…. i remember sitting on the rear wheelwells when the family went out as it only had 2 seats

after a time dad parked it beside the driveway im guessing it broke down. during that timeframe i used to sit in it and pretend to drive..

oh those were the days

i friend of mine had to have this van but looks like he's getting rid of it. no idea how it got on Huff Post.

That thing is 50 yrs old, my buddy had a 65 ford and I had a 67 chevy, all the chevy doors sagged fo sho, also had the 73 westphailia

they all have high CG short WB/shitty suspension/ shitty brakes/shitty traction and then you now have double the HP rom that V8

Sweet, with a V-8 it looks like it has tons of power. I had a 67 Chev handy van for a couple of years until I crashed it.

The old Ford Econoline i had steering issues with mine ,crossmember mounting holes were oblong.The steering boxes also first thing you need to check.Also mine(71 1 ton) had a hole in gas tank remember running fuel from gerry cans ,doghouse insulation caught fire.

All good Simon, Steering is tight with new tierods, etc and new shocks.., the gas tank was just re-lined by the previous owner (has all new straps and hardware too), and it has a custom doghouse welded out of 1/8" plate.. need that in case the motor throws something

Mechanically the only thing it needs is a new shifter cause the B[HTML_REMOVED]M thats in there is a pretty worn, and a stronger electric fan cause it runs warm. The brakes are fresh and as good as they can be but still suck so I'll do a front disc conversion over the winter when I tear it apart to do the body and paint.

That rust on the doors is just surface, they are solid..
part of me wants to leave the look as is and clearcoat the thing,
part of me wants to 70's up the side like tackle says..maybe a giant ZOSO on there

so mechanical stuff only for a couple months till I figure out what to do with the body on it. I am gonna rhyno line the interior though.. that'll be cool
