Beavers are just a rodent with a good publicist so up here the beaver guy traps them cuz they can cause millions in damage on the roads or railway lines,

My buddy Billy "the beaver guy " gets contracted by CN or the province or local land owners to mitigate a beaver situation so i think he has a license

apparently he charges pretty reasonable, he tells me Beaver sausage is really good, Billy gave me one of his hats and lots of people ask me who the beaver guy is ?

Apparently trapping Hogs is > shooting them, shooting doesnt really work cuz in the long run they get smart get away and you just end up with more hogs

I watched an Anthony Bourdain show on TV where he traveled to Montreal and ate some beaver (insert joke here, but I am serious).  They cooked it with a thick dark sauce and according to Bourdain it was tasty as hell.  I am sure he put it more eloquently, but I have always wanted to try it ever since.  Eating beaver that is.  With dark brown sauce.  It's really next to impossible to keep my inner 13 year old in check as I type this.    Do they call your friend the Beaver Slayer or are your friends more mature than I am?

Also in the right situation aka to much encouragement by idiot humans chipmunks and Squirrels aka Bushy Tailed Tree Rats. Before 2019 had a neighbour kept tossing out peanuts to the Chipmunks. End result a bunch moved in under our front steps and caused damage. His two teenage daughters where tree hugging save the whales types and apparently got upset all the time. Why? Because I actively encourage my daughters dog to chase anything that moves in the backyard. Hmm bet that is part of why they moved finally.

I haven't tried beaver but i'd like to. I was surprised to learn how commonly black bears are hunted and eaten. They've got so much fat on them you can render down a pot full and deep fry the meat in it's own fat as featured in an episode of meat eater.

Only 20 bucks for a black bear tag if you're a bc resident. Apparently people from washington state happily pay through the nose for the same tag as washington doesn't really let people hunt them.

Every .22 I've seen with the word varmint in it costs over a thousand dollars. I'm not spending that much on a .22

I just got back from my hunting trip, bagged a black bear and a large bull moose.  The moose was 735lbs hung - one of the largest in the area to date.  I'm now shopping for a new stand-up freezer.
