I need some advice on picking up a new amp
I'm looking for a tube amp around 600-800 bucks. Combo or Head and Cabinet does not matter. I'm just wondering what I should pick up. Oh yea and I play mostly blues stuff, rock, and metal.

Bend your knees and try to keep your back straight. This applies to picking up almost anything!
Smart ass remark when I'm not smart at all.
hahahahha oh thats so clever
Ya, I sig my own quotes.

…Not as clever as you though!
Umm You are probably going to have to look at the second hand market for something worth getting at that price.
Check out the 5150 and XXX from Peavey, also keep an eye open for any second hand Engls as they are fantastic amps.
I got one of these:

Cost me about 9hundo.
40 watts driving a 12 inch speaker, 2 6l6 power tubes and 3 12a7x preamp tubes. External effects loop, 2 button footswitch (reverb and channel switch).
Paired up with my Lesbo it sounds goddamn awesome for bluesy rock souding stuff. The distorted channel definitely rocks but definitely isn't heavy metal style either - it's got a warmer vintage tone - think more of a sound like you would hear from Zeppelin than Slayer.
There is another model, same price, that is wired a bit differently:

It adds another channel for even more distortion, and more of a modern sound.
I heard both in the shop and they both sound great, but I went for the first one because for extra distortion I'll just use a separate pedal (http://www.tonebone.com/tb-plexitube.htm :D ), and I like the vintage sound of the Tweed version (not to mention the look, heheh).
My only complaint, is that something inside has come a a little loose, and at higher volumes the tubes really magnify the noise to make kind of an annoying scratchy sound. For me it's the g# to a# range that make it happen. Easy fix at the shop though, my problem is I'm too damn lazy.
Anyways, hope that helps out.
shop smart, shop s-mart, mhm
Get one of these……really rips for a one inch speaker, well in this case about 3 or 4.
I have no children and my tits are super perky.
whatever Universe says, when he gets here, I will disagree with

No matter what Mr. Bridges says, I chuckled a bit over it…

ya fuck you windows. fuck you too door.
Depends on what you want. If you're looking for a great clean sound and you don't worry too much about the overdrive (or don't mind using a pedal), look into a Fender, like the one Broken Fusion posted. Although if you want a bluesy sound the overdrive should be fine.
I'm in the same boat as you, looking for an amp around that range. I'm going down to the Coast this weekend to see if I can find a used Marshall DSL401 for around that price. If you want a good clean sound and an amazing overdrive sound, they're worth looking into.

MudPie is an amazing muscian.
