used car dealership refreshes every time you beat a race, or just go into liscense you have finished and hit next. ive noticed the higher level races i do the nicer cars show in the dealership, just check after every few races or championship.

online dealership refreshes randomly but not so sure

You can really rack up the credits.
1 million credits for winning the F430 Scuderia event.

I upped the Buick Special '62 to 588hp/5500rpm but still couldn't get close to Ford Mark IV Race Car '67 [HTML_REMOVED] Ferrari 330 P4 Race Car '67.

I don't know if damage actually affects how your vehicle drives, but you can notice it if you watch the replay of your race (bent bumpers, fenders etc.) I think only premium cars have damage. Also, the premium cars have an extra view while racing of inside the car. If anyone has questions or wants info, gtplanet.com is a great site.

damage is always there online, and seems to appear more in rally cars.

try doing nurb. with damage high and real traction loss on the grass, its nail biter.

Yeah, I'm stuck on that too. I'm using an old Lambo, maxed it out to the max, and even turned some driving aids on and still can't win.
