FFS, Google has disabled this fundamental and super-convenient browswer behaviour standard.

If this annoys anyone else as much as it annoys me, please report it to Google and give them shit. There is a feedback feature built in: from the menu, select Help [HTML_REMOVED] Report an Issue.

Sure, there are workarounds. But thats not the point.

I am not feeling any outrage here. Very disappointed.

Thanks Super! I'd rep you if I had any clue as to how that whole system works.

My Logitech mouse has a scroll wheel that can be pushed left [HTML_REMOVED] right and behaves like the Forward and Back navigation buttons. Super convenient.

I'm in the other camp. I've had a few instances where I was filling in an online form and hit backspace to erase text only to have it go back a page.

Good riddance backspace = pack page.

That is their justification for making the change.

Google explains that 0.04 percent of page views are currently triggered by going back with the backspace button. In addition, 0.005 percent of page views are from people using the backspace key after a form interaction. "Years of user complaints have been enough that we think it's the right choice to change this given the degree of pain users feel by losing their data, and because every platform has another keyboard combination that navigates back."

They almost immediately released that extension to placate die hard Backspace users, so everyone should be happy now. :rave:

Safari brings up a favorites pop-up every time my cursor goes near the left side of the browser. Worst feature ever and guess what, it can't be turned off.

yes, Chrome is "free", but in return for using google search and gmail and the browser in general I pay Google back in spades with my personal information which they sell on down the road…

anyway, that extension works great. back to backspacing to go back, as God intended.
