Not when I was there in July. Lake was hella cold then though.
The thing about a "good" camping spot, is one that you don't tell the world about. Just saying.
Went out exploring today, found several new sites for future use. You just gotta get out there and find them
Step 1: Use Google Earth to pan around and find a random lake or river wherever you want.
Step 2: Google the lake name, add "camping" or "directions" in your search. Try an image search. clubtread.com or sharphooks.com are often good sources.
Step 3: If it looks good, try to follow the directions there. If it doesn't look good, go back to step one. The searching process is actually really enjoyable.
There are some good places up the Squamish valley road, or the In-SHUCK-ch Forest Service Road past Pemberton. If the weather looks better to the East (which it usually does) there are a ton of good spots near Merritt and Princeton.
Go to Harrison and drive up gravel road on right side of lake. Go about 1 to 1.5 hours. You'll find a spot right on the lake, and likely very few if any people around.

BC Forest Rec Sites Just browse for sites without fees. I have had good luck up Pike Mountain (Johnny, Goose, Thalia). The sites are more spread out, some cool cliff jumping, good fishing, out of the way.

We did this very thing last week but started from the other side.
70+ km on dirt roads does indeed keep the people away for sure. It was empty every place we went and LOTS of wasps this year along the Lillooet and Little Harrison.
