The small IMPORT truck was so last century in fact think about what japanese vehical isn't made in NA nowdays which entirely blows the cool small truck with a diesel imported from somewhere mantra out of the water.

Google small truck sales, north americans didn't buy them so sales figures tanked

I am pretty sure Ford would have to build that ranger in NA at a cost of 1 billion dollars for a plant/tooling before a truck ever hits the showroom but when the f150 has been the best selling vehical in NA for 32 years why would Ford spend 1billion to compete with themselves for sales ?

A buddy has the Dodge EcoDiesel and he sees about 9.5L/100km driving like a madman. In his Tacoma he averaged 23.5L/100km. Obviously, he has a terrible right foot and needs to drive with a bit more care. However, same driver and same roads it's a difference that easily accounts for a higher vehicle, fuel, and maintenance costs.

For a proper small truck this one looks awesome!

That 23.5l/100km in the Tacoma is wild. I drive up and down hills all day and get 15 in my frontier. The numbers on the ram diesel are impressive and apparently match your typical cuv.

Not much chatter around the frontier, but it seems to be a solid truck, quite a bit cheaper than the Tacoma, with some advantages over the Tacoma IMO, and the sales guys are at least willing to dance a bit on the price.

Well I can get a fully loaded titan pro 4x with leather sunroof sat nav for the same as a tacoma limited.

Just found that out tonight, always thought the nissans were pretty cheap, but that is CHEAP.

How are the titans for lasting? Anyone on the boards own one?

Nissans always were easy to fix

Local dealership dropped $18k on a Pro4x that was on the lot without much haggling at all.

I'd say they want to get rid of the 2014s in lead up to the diesel.

23 l/100 is bullshit don't make up numbers to try to strengthen a point.

Real world North Van to Moab Ut while pulling a 3500 lb trailer. I averaged 13 l/100km 18 mpg.

If someone is getting 23l/ 100 they either drive like an ass, have a modified truck or something is seriously wrong with their taco

23L/100 sounds really weird.

Pulling a 5000lb trailer down to Cali and back in my 2010 4Runner (same engine) plus 2 adults and 4 kids, driving through a lot of mountain passes down the coast then up the I5….. phew! We got between 19 and 20L/100. Some of those hills were huge.

I'm not making it up. the guy would get 10mpg and had to fill up every time he passed a gas station. Aggressive driving, 2" lift, aggressive tires, box full of bikes, and a small trailer.

My Tacoma (4 years driving) averages 15L/100km. As near as I can tell some Tacomas get a consistent 12L/100km while unlucky owners of the exact "same" year and spec see 15L/100km all day long.

I keep mine because it's paid for, has low maintenance costs, and does what I need it to do. If the diesels prove themselves after a few years I'll be getting one just to improve my range between fuel stops.

For the record my Taco is a bone stock 2007 AcessCab with the Off Road spec and a 6MT.
