the hilux diesel in aus isnt amazing on fuel.

im not sure why that motor isnt offered here though.

Compared to the 4.0L V6 in the hilux it is quite a bit better though. I was a steady driver and would only ever get a maximum of 430 kilometres to a full 70L tank.

What is amazing is the Volkswagon Amarok. That thing gets over 1000 kilometres to a tank any day of the week in the diesel. Damn pricey up front though!

Last top up with my 4.0L was 12.9L/100km, driving to and from work in town. Worst I can recall was 14.7L/100km when we had that lingering snow and cold earlier in the year.

Is there any reason you want a mid size truck in particular? For $40k I would much rather be in an access cab SR5 Tundra than a double cab limited Tacoma. You already said you don't care about fuel.

Guy at work switched from an 03 Fronty to 14 Titan, and now carpools to work as the 5.6L sucks back the fuel

Why not another fullsize, Sleepy?

You get to write that shit off and your fuel is paid for anyways….

Stop buying so many bikes and you could afford the payments.

I averaged 13 l/100km 18 mpg.

13L/100km is 21.5mpg.

13.0 = 18.093429487179485 miles per gallon (US)
13.0 = 21.729311780738943 miles per gallon (Imperial)

Hey so, the way I read it is:

2014/15 Canyon vs Tacoma

The diesel Canyon isn't available yet, so really one of the main differences is that the Tacoma has a smaller v6 truck engine vs the Canyon has a revy car engine.

The idea is that you'll be sacrificing torque for fuel economy essentially. The Canyon may drive better when unloaded vs the Tacoma may drive better when loaded. The engines should drive fairly different.

Spot on. I was thinking the same thing really. As far as im aware the Canyon is also a couple hundred pounds heavier than the Tacoma as well.

I thought it might be easier to live with the tacoma than a tundra, smaller easier to drive. As I don't really need a half ton. And it's nice to have the full load as I spent as much time or more in my truck as i do my bed somedays.

I'll drive a tundra again and see

13L/100km pulling a 3500lb trailer in a Tacoma?? Did you not go over 75kph?

I drive the speed limit where I can and I gear down where needed. I've experimented a lot pulling with my truck. I leave it in drive until it's struggling then I gear down to 4 or 3 depending on the hill. It makes a huge difference over leaving it in drive
