Getting older?

Firstly, I don't buy into the complaining about getting older, not able to do things I used to idea. I say fight it, stay positive, keep active etc etc. I hope to be biking, skiing and living aggressively well into my later years.

But, for the first time, I feel some age…

I was playing with my 3 year old nephew yesterday, whose latest trick is to somersault. He then wanted me to do it too. OK, it's on a hardwood floor but I do yoga without much padding so how would it be any different? So, as I go over and drive my upper thoracic vertebrae into the ground, I realize that this wasn't such a good idea. I can't remember the last time I did a somersault but I sure don't remember it hurting my spine. My back is still tender today. I was later informed by my friend that children's bones are made of Nerf (ha!) and just because he could do somersaults on the hard floor didn't mean that I could!!

The whole thing makes me laugh… (but not too hard 'cause it hurts to laugh!)

Sparkplug, Welcome. The 1st stage is admitting it. ;-)

Is it counter productive to ride on my exercise bike with a cocktail in hand?

you can always make more money but you can never make more time.

I think it's called work for a reason. Or else they probably would have called it fun-time at the fun factory.

A comforting thought for me is the fact that some guys I train Jiu Jitsu with are in their 40's and in awesome shape. They are getting banged up all the time and it never slows them down. I think the secret is being more strict with your diet and exercise every day.

Now for myself being 30 years old, I feel awesome. The main reason is that when I was 20 I was partying all the time and ate fast food blah blah blah. I was not in good shape. Nowadays I eat right, train right and generally feel awesome. So when I hear that people are feeling older and more tired I think it's funny because from what I have learned, older means getting in better shape.
