YEARS of running 5.0 Mustangs and I can say confidently that there was one truth with EVERY ONE of my cars….ran 100% smooth on chevron/mohawk…and ran slightly rougher on esso/petrocan…every time, without fail.
Vehicle type specific experience? Maybe. Station brand specific issues? Absolutely.

I always use Safeway gas, because i work there.
And i happen to know for a fact that we buy our gas from the same refinery as the big four gas stations do. The guy who fills our tanks makes deliveries to all types of gas stations, and its the exact same stuff.

Gas in the US is more than $3 a gallon, which works out to about 95 cents Canadian. Not exactly chump change.
It ranged from 2.57 to 2.78 all through Oregon and Washington for us (first week of August)
