So, here's the GoT (not go-t) story so far …

DL'd all of season 1 and 2. I know that me wife likes those old-timey "period" programs, but really hates like scary spooky stuff, and GoT has a lot from column A and a little from column B. So, got her to commit to watching the first three episodes before deciding to continue watching or bail.

Of course S01E01 starts with a massacre at the hands of some non-descript white walker character, so she didn't much like ep 1. But, she carried through with the commitment to watch 2 more. By end of ep 3, she wasn't convinced she liked the series, but willing to go one more. Ep 4 really starts to move out of character development and jumps fully into to all the political intrigue and has a real cliffhanger ending … so by the end of that one she was hooked and super keen to see more.

So we've been watching 1/night for a while now. I just informed her that we've finished watching season 1 and she was all like "holy crap, we've already watched a whole season worth? We have to see what happens next!"

Looks like we'll be through season 2 by end of next weekend. She'll freak when I tell her that season 3 doesn't even air on HBO until end of this month!

You should have seen my wife's reaction when we finished season 2 and I told her we would have to wait nearly a year…

If they don't want to wait, tell them it's time to start reading. ;)

That doesn't help, he hasn't even finished the f** books yet!

I read Dance with Dragons over a year ago. It was a two year wait from Feast for Crows.

FML, i started reading this series in 2005. :crybaby:

True. However that would tide them over for a while. Then they can wait multiple years instead of just one!

As of October Martin had 400 pages of the next book written, but he said that only 200 of those were really finished and he expects the last 2 books to be epics of 1500+ pages. So we wait. I love the books though so I guess I can't bitch about his process.

Holy crap!! I just found this awesome mkv merge utility, figured out how to merge together all the english subtitles for dothraki speech into a single mkv container. No more effing around with VLC to get subtitles, just play through any media player and select the sub file.

That shiz is awesum.

Oh. Carry on.

It looks like at least book one has.

Looks like the show has been translated into 1995 though:

Game of Thrones Premiere Illegally Downloaded Over a Million Times

According to a report on TorrentFreak, the first episode of Game of Thrones’ latest season was downloaded more than a million times in the 24-hour period after it premiered on HBO, with more than 160,000 people sharing one single torrent simultaneously at one point, setting a new record for the largest BitTorrent swarm ever.

It’s interesting to see various Game of Thrones and HBO executives increasingly make public statements to the effect of, essentially, enjoying and embracing the piracy as a sign that they’re doing something right. Are we slowly heading towards an outright endorsement of piracy at some point as something that grows the fanbase — or the sort of reasonably-priced HBO streaming service that fans have been begging to pay for?

Love the show. Found the books boring as hell though. Weird.
