Ok, back on topic... I don't gamble at the casinos or at all really - maybe the odd lotto ticket at most. I think playing cards with your buds for some low level stakes can be fun, but I don't really see that as gambling as the point is more about the game and hanging out vs trying to win.

See I like the sound of that but my friends all know my tells, I suck at hiding my feelings so I always lose.

then make the bets/limits low so nobody loses their shirt. do something like $20 gets you a certain number of chips and all that money goes into one pot. at the end of the night it's winner take all. at best you win say $100 and at worst you lose $20, but a night of sitting around a table arguing over worthless topics is priceless.

I used to host a game once in a while.  We would do tournaments so that the most you can lose in the buy-in, which was usually 20$.  It is low enough you don't care if you lose but high enough that the winner can rub the loser's faces in it.

I do the passive gambling with lottery tickets.

Won 3 out of 4 on the extra twice, which was a grand. Which was also one number away from a half million, twice. Soooon.

Having bartended in three casino's now, it's the time over the money aspect that blows my mind. People will soil themselves at slots, wait in house for hours for a seat at a poker table and even stay longer than 24 hours chasing as I saw multiple people in the same clothes the day after a shift while I waste very little time buying a ticket. I obviously know the odds are "better" than being struck by lightening and being the victim of a shark attack in the same day.

What actually got me started playing the lottery was having a lottery machine in my bar on my first bartending job. Some people did very well on the old Pacific Hold 'Em poker and odd sets. Probably too good. Rando story: a guy had his pretty cute gf validate his 60 odd set tickets that were all the same two bets played. An NFL game and soccer I think. Odds per ticket was 6:1, $10 bet, 60 times. Total cost of tickets: $600. Total winnings, $36,000. Other time's I saw people playing Keno waiting for almost an hour or two and then put their head down, fill out a ticket and get 10/10. Some of those, Casino's couldnt pay out (their max payout from BCLC tickets is $999.99 if it hasnt changed).

This week is a good week to start an NBR lottery pool. PM me if interested (you will get a picture copy of the ticket if my phone decides to takes pictures). But then I have to collect...

Couldn't they solve this pretty easily by forcing casinos to use only chips for gambling and have the people cash in and out thereby recording if they won or not?

At any rate, this is so obvious and should never have been missed, but there is a lot more to the sky-high prices in Vancouver.

sure there is more to hi the RE  but that money is all part of " the proceeds of crime " being ignored for at least 15 yrs certainly federally and now we find out provincially

Casino staff told to report any abusive customers. Unless it's a big spender, then they tell the employee to forget about it.

Thought of this thread when I just read the new actual odds for the "improved" lotto max.

For those who dont know, they added one more number (50), increased the total jackpot limit to $70 million and apparently have more prizes.

The odds to win 7/7 are now 1 in 99,884,400 per selection or 3-line ticket which gives the winner an 87.25% share of the funds. Odds of winning per line are 1/3 or 33,394,800 (taken from pg8 of the pdf called game-conditions-2019).

From my way of thinking gambling is a very complex subject. Also, it's a very tricky one. We can speak about a lot of pluses and minuses of the gambling activity. Honestly, to be, I don't see any problem if a person likes to spend his time in the casino.

But what about the burritos?  Can a significant amount of tacos suppress the proletariat?
