Friends that have gone weirdo in the face of covid

How do you deal with friends that have seemingly gone off the deep end into the conspiracy bs of covid including becoming fans of Trump and believing in the new world order stuff in the bible? Do you try and talk sense into them? Do you still stay friends but keep that type of talk off the table? Do you just walk away?

We don't know what our limits are, so to start something with the idea of being limited actually ends up limiting us.

Case by case.

For the most part I’m now relying on a simple graph that shows the total number of deaths over a decade and how coincidental a massive spike occurred when the liberal hoax was put into place.

... and I subsequently lose all respect for that person.

Was just having the conversation last night in our household of how to deal with some friends that seem to be going off the deep end.

It's tricky because they've found an alternative facts news outlet that they tune into regularly, so any counter arguments you give will be basically going up against the entire production team of their news source.

The first time you hear something come out of your friends mouths, your reaction will likely be stunned silence. Be prepared for it the second time though, and go through it with them.

It's an awkward silence. Luckily only happened once within my circle. Nothing make me laugh more than the "woke" crowd. They watch bogus vids on YouTube and think all the info is legit. Example the flat earth crowd.

I'd walk. I don't need many people in my life.

The same way you handle COVID. Social distancing. :)

I guess I am lucky enough to not have anyone like that in my life that I can think of. I have a sister in law that falls prey to conspiracy theories, but she is a nurse so she doesn't buy into any of the COVID ones. She told me that Sandy Hook was a hoax once and I almost lost my shit.

They may be just avoiding me though because I am just as much of an argumentative asshole know-it-all IRL. I have lost a couple of friends in Squamish because I challenged their anti-vax views but if they can't handle being challenged they shouldn't believe stupid shit.

One of my (now ex) buddies from America that I've known for almost 10 years is convinced it's a targeted attack on America from China, that everyone on the planet already has it but the attack only targets or makes it active in Americans, that masks do literally nothing and they're just to control us, that no kids are getting sick at all, he refuses to believe any of the science, full on trump supporter, thinks America has done nothing wrong with their handling of the virus, he's just gone completely off the deep end.

I haven't spoken to him in about 5 months and don't plan on it.

I'm all for discussions with conspiracy theorists who are into them for fun. The flip side are those that are truly emotional about it and those people I cant stand.

Was sitting in my truck enjoying the view and cool air by the ocean before work today. Shit box Dodge Dakota rolls right up next to me and the guy starts spouting off about Covid-19 being a "plandemic" to give the world governments more power. I had nothing to say so I rolled the window up on that side, fuck right off.
