I find the hostility that exists here toward anything even remotely right wing laughable.
it has nothing to do with it being right wing, and everything to do with it being hyper-partisan and nothing close to being independant news reporting

That would depend on your viewpoint then wouldn't it. Must pay and subsidies are OK for the CBC, ATPN etc etc….

Anyone who's opinion is different from ours must be prevented from speaking.
We can not let divisive voices be heard.
And anyone who diagrees must be re-educated.
Nat, can we use your basement?
Anyone else have a spare car battery and some jumper cables.
We must nip this freedom of speach thing in the bud.
I have a crawlspace. That might be appropriate.
This is absolute chicken-shit, and I KNEW that the extreme right would be sore losers on this.
Again, they "renounced" their application. I love that.
There was NOT about preventing speech, free or otherwise. This was about standing up to a political attempt at manipulating news.

She was once a Wiccan…We best be burning her on a stake. :)

No, it wouldn't depend on your viewpoint. Objective news is objective news. Last time I checked, both the CBC and APTN weren't 24 hour "news" networks which openly spin news to support a political agenda.

Exactly what I just said…You just posted YOUR views on this topic. I respect your opinion on what makes objective news, it just varies from mine.

Uh oh, the old man is slipping. You clearly don't understand the difference between Objective and subjective. Objectivity is not subject to interpretation. It doesn't vary from person to person, news is either objective or it's not, SunTV=Subjective reporting CBC=Objective reporting MSNBC=Subjective reporting. Understand? Don't make me put you in a home.
I understand what you are saying, Our opinions on the issue just varies.
Now what type of "Home" are we talking about here?

Don't worry, I'd put you in one of the nice ones with super hot nurses ;)

The CBC has a mandate that is fundamentally different from private broadcasters. Most of the money goes to CBC Radio, but aside from that, it is required to fulfill Canadian content requirements that (CTV for example) are not. As such, CTV can fill up their ad-supported air time with American shows acquired for a FRACTION of the price of producing Canadian material (American networks can also acquire Canadian shows the same way, for the same benefit).
Private media has no obligation to reach non-viable markets in Canada, whereas the CBC reaches 98% of all Canadians.
The CBC does BACKFLIPS to remain central and to preserve it's journalistic integrity. There are always spokespeople from BOTH sides of an argument (not something Fox or another private broadcaster would even pretend to do). Rex Murphy and his band of Harper apologists (Chantal Hebert, Allan Gregg, Andrew Coyne). For me, it's agonizing to watch how careful the CBC and its ombudsman are in balancing issues. CTV, Fox, the National Post - these operate under no such constraints.

I understand what you are saying, Our opinions on the issue just vary, and in MY OPINION the CBC is not neutral in its reporting.
Rex Murphy and his band of Harper apologists (Chantal Hebert, Allan Gregg, Andrew Coyne).
I'll just barely give you Rex Murphy and Andrew Coyne, but Chantel Hebert and Allan Gregg? You would have to falling over to the left and lying on the bathroom floor to think they (especially Hebert) are Harper apologists.
Oh by the way, the far left is just as messed up as the far right, its just a different self absorbed pile of shit.
That would depend on your viewpoint then wouldn't it. Must pay and subsidies are OK for the CBC, APTN etc etc….
APTN does tell the news in in newscast with a bit of a slant. But that is simply because that is the stations focus. It's focus is on the Aboriginals view of the world. That is their market, they aren't worried about anyone else.

How are they not neutral? Do they just not cover the stories that prop up the conservatives in your view, or do they blatantly lie and offer opinion over facts? My problem with Fox News is that every one of their shows is opinion based. They give you the story (which is often filled with holes) and then they all give their opinions which are all totally right wing, christian, and often bigoted. I don't see this in any Canadian media and I don't think we need it, no matter if the opinions are to the left or right. It's not news, it's a 24 hour op ed channel for morons.

Allan Gregg was former Director of Communications for the Conservatives, and a huge advocate of negative campaigning. He ran Decima, which was Brian Mulroney's polling org. That is about as right wing as it gets.
Hebert is a columnist for the National Post, Canada's voice of the the conservative movement.
I'm sitting completely upright at my desk, and they still look like Harper apologists to me.
Oh by the way, the far left is just as messed up as the far right, its just a different self absorbed pile of shit.
^ I totally and unequivocally agree with you.
