I need some help. I have been renting a board to go snowboarding about 3 or 4 times. So I have decided to buy a snowboard, seeing as it seems worth while. I was looking on the internet for some and I saw all sorts, freeride boards, freestyle boards, wide boards. I don't even know where to start. My price range is $3000. Haha I am not planning to spend that much. Probably around 300-600. I don't know. What would be a good beginner board? Or should I go quality right away? Freeride or freestyle? Any info you have send it over. I need every little piece.:thepimp:

P.S. Count Blah [HTML_REMOVED] Tony G don't whore this thread unless you know something about it:)

I would say get freeride board, it will be better for all mountain and still perform if you decide to hit the park. If you have the money, spend it and go for the quality. That way it will last you a long time and give you lots of room for progression. And remember to keep it waxed :D

get an intermediat board (like level wise)

I think a freeride kinda board would be the best, I have a parkish board, and its not as good for jsut riding (i got it cause its pretty quick handling, and it was half price)

go talk to a board shop, ask em about intermediate boards, tell em where your at for riding, and theyll make suggestions, that will be teh best best for sure.

Del has a good point, but I think if you can do it, go for the best board you can afford. It may a bit "too much" for you at the start, but you'll progress, and won't have to upgrade later.
Or at least, buy high quality bindings and boots and get a decent board, that way you can move them over when you get a new board a few years down the road.

look at the rossingol line up.. they are good intermediate boards, all the way up to pro boards

or look around for an option board, west 49 has some for 399$ then u can buy some 2001 bindings, a lot of shops give really good prices on last years stuff. try to spend 150-200.

if you end up getting a cheaper board, get some good bindings like ride or drake.. they will last way longer than cheapo bindings, and you'll be thanking yourself everytime you strap in and out, not to mention they perform better.

thats my advice

You don't need the super all pro-board… yet. Good bindings are key, they transfer your position to the board. Some good comfy boots as well.

I got a cheap package, $400, last season when I was in your position. It'll do me fine for this season too (maybe some new bindings). You definetely don't need to go blow $1000 on a setup.

Ride Timeless, drake f60 bindings, u'll be the envy of all your friends, and will suck so much on such a good board to, but who cares!

freeride board = all mountain
freestyle = parkboard

i would have definently spen a fair amount on the board and bindings. you dont want something thats gonna fall apart on you.

lucky for me my friends dad is the rosignol rep for BC and i got a pair of bran new HC 3000's for $100 .

now i'm so fresh you could smell me through a ziplock.

If you're going to splurge on anything, make it the boots. Trust me on this. Get the best boots you possibly can even if you have to downgrade some other parts (within reason).
