Hardwood for sure. Drop down rugs where you will spend large amounts of time.

FTW! Although if you have a dog he will have issues when he/she gets old with
HW floors.

Hardwood sucks if you own pets.

Not if you get some of that hard as nail woods from the Amazon rain forest.

Not if you get some of that hard as nail woods from the Amazon rain forest.

I think he means it's hard on the dogs to move around, it can also put a strain
on their hips.

I like the hardwood as it is easier to keep clean, and having throw rugs are nice
as you can just throw them in the washer.

If you lay down something like NA cherry, a dog's claws will tear through that stuff. Maple and oak are harder, but a few exotic woods are 3 times as hard.

everyone says hardwood is easier to clean.. what they dont mention is you have to clean it 3 times as often…

umm - the same amount of dirt ends up in the carpet - you just don't see it…
