Trying to enjoy a beer on the beach. Sitting in the sun is slightly too warm but the shade is slightly too cool.

Top half in the shade, bottom in the sun.

Growing some raspberries & strawberries on the back patio. First strawberry was looking good. Large & juicy, we were gonna eat it the next day. Wife went out to pick it & half of it was already eaten by something.

20 days into a protein sparing fast with one solid meal a day which shall not be more than 500 to 600 cal. 8 days to go. No booze. No grainy carbs and no beans. And 3 to 4 protein shakes with water daily.

Lost lots of weight, but .... I really miss a burger and a nice IPA.

I do not miss chocolate or pizza though which feels weird.

Where do you get a nice IPA in Germany?

Last time I was there, that style of beer was not on the radar afaik (granted - that was a 5ish years ago)

The ‘tap’ function on my credit card stopped working.  Until a new card arrives, I have to enter my pin every time I use it.

Two.  Weizen or pils.

And in the fall, Oktoberfest.

Quite a few breweries have caught up if in Berlin or in Hamburg or my area (near cologne). Difficult to get in Bavaria, but they got some nice stuff in some places apart from their wheat beer.

I never understood pilsner to be honest, there are times I have a czech Budweiser for memory's sake but other than that I try and be as open as possible, and find gems.

Belgian beer is really good, too. La Chouffe is all time.

Yes, a lot of people drink shitty pilsner, kind of like the US Budweiser or Coors or any other mass market produced beer that does not please the taste buds.

Cool to hear the micro-brewery / beer nerdery is happening over there. I look forward to when I’m allowed to travel there again

Czech Budvar is great, as are the Belgians. And there’s nothing wrong with a good pils on a hot day.

at $2.09 a tallcan, imported Pils are some of the best buys at BC liquor stores...

And yes, Europe is slowly coming around to the hop, although I think they're still quite nervous of an IPA (speaking from recent experiences in Italy, Germany, Austria, Norway, Denmark).   I spoke with a micro-brewer in Austria and asked why they're most adventuresome beer was a dark pils and it's all about demand - the people don't want IPA.
