I spent all of one day in the hague. Mainly to hit http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mauritshuis and I would reccomend doing the same. If you're into dutch art in anyway. Its where "the girl with the pearl earring" resides plus a lot more.

Berlin is amazing party city. Dont even remember most of the names of the places. rave rave rave. Cassiopeia stands out for me. An old silo was turned into rock climbing wall and they built some bouldering caves around it. And this was surrounded by old warehouses converted into bars and clubs. Pretty interesting place. We would usually just walk into an industrial area and follow the music. Oh and check out the Berlin Wall gallery or whatever its called. The longest stretch of the wall still standing and they got local graffitti artists to paint it.

At sensation check out sharam and Joris Voorn. Sensation has gone hardcore mainstream but it should still be a pretty fun night. Spend your time over there drinking good beer (aka, spend most of the time partly drunk.) If you come home from Europe with a similar tolerance to when you left, you have failed.

In Berlin, forget everything you saw at Sensation, throw on some skinny jeans and immerse yourself as deep as you can into the underground in the time you are there. Go to Golden Gate, Ritterbutske, Watergate. Get really messed up. Stay out for three days straight. Go to Berghain, just cause. Berlin is on the verge of changing, I wish I had seen it earlier. Enjoy it while it is still sorta dope. Yes, eat doners. Try Mustafas at Mehringdam….seriously. And if you are drunk, which you should be, you will still be hungry. Curry 36 is right next door, get some currywurst. Talk to Shed if he is there, hes a nice guy.

Eastern Places? Get drunk, party hard. Balaton should be cool.

Chernobyl? Fuck, jealous. Would love to see that.

Amsterdam is fun, but filled with Idiot tourists. Try and get off the beaten track. Rent a bike, ride around. Again, drink beer. Go to the Hague, I liked it. Go to haarlem, get high if that's your thing. Its not mine, I got drunk.

Take photos, make thread here when you come home.

Most importantly, give zero fucks and do things you wouldn't do when you are here. Dance like you don't give a fuck. Imo anyhow.

Sensation should be fun, happened to have a girl from the Czech on my facebook and she posted it and saw it and decided it would be fun to go. I also plan to be drinking beer the whole trip, first year of uni rose the tolerance, Europe will for sure do the same. I'm going to Berlin first, and I already wear skinny jeans, I'll try to check all these places out! Eastern is going to be a huge party and I think Chernobyl should be pretty insane to see. We are staying for free in Hague I believe, so no complaints. Getting high is my thing so I will be for sure be doing that a bit, but more excited to see around the Netherlands more, I had a layover in Amsterdamn before and it looked like a neat place to see. Many photos shall be taken and I don't plan to give much of a fuck, just going to enjoy myself, drink a lotta beer and have a damn good time. Also excited that I can order my first legal beer on the plane:)

I second this, for two reasons:

1. Weight. Imho there is no sense in travelling as a backpacker when you have a lot of Kilos just for camera gear.

2. Playing it safe, depending in which accomodation you stay, and where you end up walking around, it may be a better idea to bring a more "general" camera along.

I'll probs drop the film stuff, but I'm in love with photography to much to leave my 7d at home, it will be hard to bring, but I think I would regret it far too much to leave it at home.

Where are these happening? I'm always looking for shows/partys/raves there.

I'd recommend a New Europe tour, especially in Berlin. They are free (you can and should tip at the end) and last a couple of hours. I did a few of them in the fall and they are a great way to get an introduction to the city and learn some of the history. http://www.neweuropetours.eu/

You hostelling?

Cause you'll regret having it when some hottie you're trying to wheel wants to head out to the clubs one night and you have to decide whether you trust your hostel mates and your camera hiding skills (tip - you shouldn't), or pass up on a fun night out getting in trouble.

I hear what you are saying, but I met a lot of people that had a lot of stuff stolen when I was backpacking. Backpackers are easy targets.

Good luck, have fun.

If you can afford to lose it, then take it. You don't want to have your trip ruined midway through cause someone decides to nick your pride and joy.

If you have some time left between the Netherlands and Berlin, I recommend Cologne, especially the cathedral and the old part of the city with all the breweries. I was there today - and to say that there were a lot of unbelievably nice English speaking backpackers around, sitting at the Rhine river and having a pint would be an understatement.

Depending on when you are in Cologne I could drop by for a pint or two if you do not mind.
