I remember maybe a year or two ago someone just freeballed all their veggies in their grocery basket and I thought "what the hell you're crazy." Before I finished the sentence I realized how stupid it was to use all that plastic just to bring veggies home. I was converted right then and there.

I had the exact same experience. I had been trained to think carrots needed a bag to keep them from contracting cooties. It is so much faster to just toss them in the basket too. I usually just reserve one bag for the veg so they don't soak everything else.
