Great photos,and nice work on the Frontier. Looks bush worthy. Are all those pics Northern island? Doesn't look like there's gates everywhere like South island.

Most definitely some sort of cetacean vertebrae. Banana for scale, and let me tell you, hiking that back to the truck sucked the entire time.
All pics except the Ship I work on, and the waterfall/landslide fall are north of Hwy 4.
I rarely ever venture further south than Port Alberni, there's just one lake I visit and maybe Carmanah but that's it.
good luck finding uncrowded hiking. its getting stupider and stupider.

Holy crap! How heavy is it?
Roughly 50-55 lbs, it was a lot heavier soaking wet especially after an hour and a half of bushwacking. it probably weighed more like 250 lbs by the end, or so it seemed.
I ended up finding some rope that washed up on the beach and made a giant whale bone necklace, while supporting the bottom by having it rest on my belt, kinda like flava flav with his stupid clock.

Manning has been slammed lately. We were hiking out the other day and passed 39 incoming with overnight packs. Just bonkers.

I thought the beach photo of the whale vert was cool... but the fact that you lugged it back to a truck is epic.
On the one hand I felt sorta bad for depriving others a chance to see it.. on the other I don't even want them to find the beach I was at, needless to say it doesn't see many visitors.

Aw common, who would look in a politics thread on a mountain bike forum for secret hikes. It's the perfect disguise.
Ended up getting a permit for the HSCT, was a good time.
