Don't forget to apply at Tesla motors. My friend did a co-op there from ubc.
Even just having an interview there will be a great experience for you.

My company, Honeywell Process Solutions, usually has one position per term. It alternates between mechanical, electrical, mechatronics and computer engineering, depending on project needs. Our positions are always posted through the universities' Co-Op offices, so keep an eye open.

I advise checking if you are starting your co-op at the same time as UBC.
I know a lot of big companies won't even entertain you if you have a different starting period for your coop (BC Hydro for instance).
It doesn't hurt to call around, but really your best chances are companies that post jobs on co-op job sites.
