EV's are as simple as building more rooftop solar and charging during the workday and evening.
No one is going to be charging EVs with solar at night unless they also have some form of large energy storage to fill during the day.

I haven't been to China but did do an installation in a nuclear facility in Taiwan about 20 years ago. The construction quality was shockingly poor. We called the concrete "dirtcrete"; there were big dirt balls [HTML_REMOVED] voids in the wall [HTML_REMOVED] ceiling, made it very challenging to install concrete anchors to hang pipe and cable tray. Even form work was poor, every stair was a different height and depth. You had to be very careful going up or down.

Last time I checked there was daylight in the summer (also periods of high residential draw for Air Conditioning) from when I get home from work at 530 until 8. But I dunno maybe this summer will be different.

But most urban rooftop solar installations are grid-tied, so they produce during the daylight hours and thus offset generation needs during those periods. Charging can then be done overnight from grid during non-peak hours.

I'm tempted, even though I don't even need/want a new car any time in the next 2 or 3 years. Deposit is fully refundable, so $1k can hold a place in line and you can decide whether to follow through later.
