Electric Vehicle (EV) discussion thread
In the US, Te$la has been ordered to open their chargers to everyone. That might help increase the EV appeal a bit more...maybe?

it’s like a modern version of a japanese kei truck.
Xbus looks cool. US EV startup Canoo has something similar (probably a little bigger because US):
The risk of buying a vehicle from such startups is of course that they may not exist a few years from now leaving you without support & parts.
I'm still aiming to get a used VW ID Buzz in 2045, lol.

The charging station rates are going up as fast as the price of gasoline.

They absolutely have NOT been "ordered" to do this.

I think electric pickups with a decent range will really move the EV market forward (as long as they are not way overpriced). Americans already know and love pickups, having access to the power makes them super versatile as a small work truck, and they will mostly come from companies they already know and trust like Ford.
I'd like to see more EV manufacturers focus on making smaller, lighter, more efficient cars. It feels like most EVs today are too big and bloated, too much inspired by current ICE cars, and too focused on adding ever more gadgets.
There's a Dutch EV startup called Lightyear, they optimized everything (weight, aerodynamics, friction) for efficiency, for example they integrated the electric motors in the wheels so no energy is wasted in transfer, etc. They also added solar panels all over the car for charging on the go but even without it, it gets superior range from its batteries than other EVs just by being a more energy-efficient design. Their first car is a $250K exclusive proof of concept kind of thing but they think they can scale their technology to a $30K family car. It will be interesting to see if they make it.
