Haha … yah, if the two in the back seat are no larger then a dachshund.

Lol @ 200k for a car that can't even match a Tesla in performance and still burns gas.

Yeah I fell in love with em once I saw one in real life but it seems like they shat the bed on this one. Seems like million dollar hypercar hybrids or tiny electric sports cars would are the way to go. $200k buys you a lot of Ferrari or Porsche. I bet they would sell more if it were z3-sized and $100k but I think this is mostly a halo product, design exercise, and possibly a way of complying with California fleet efficiency ratings.

Why is this not available in Canada?

If that was available in BC for $15k after incentives, I would be all over it.

Anyone know the specs on the Tesla being announced next month? It's supposed to be a lot lighter than the S, so hopefully the range will be decent.

There isnt really any info out there at all. $35k USD Price, range would be good or they wouldn't bother building it.

Closely guarded secret. The only details out of Musk are;

- $35k USD base model price
- Minimum 200 mile (320 km) range on full charge (under "average" conditions)
- Size will be "about 3/4" of the Model S
- Probably will be co-released as two versions: a sedan and a CUV on same chassis.
- Musk has promised the same access to free supercharging as with the S and X

Anything else you hear is pure speculation. And there's a whole hell of a lot of speculation going on out there. What I've said above has been taken from statement that Musk made, either on quarterly reports or on the tweeter. Musk loves to twit.

Oh … also, there will not be a "signature series" as they did with previous models. Production models only. Pre-orders require $1000 deposit and you can pre-order at Tesla stores starting March 31, or on-line starting April 1.

It's being reported that in the US the price could be as low as $25K after government incentives. If the range is decent, sales could be huge.

Success of the Mod 3 will be almost entirely dependent on successful ramp up of the gigafactory in Nevada. The highest cost in the car is the batteries, and the gigafactory helps them control costs through high volume production and control of the raw material sources. Since the gigafactory is ahead of schedule and already into low volume production, it looks good from that angle.

Saw an i8 rolling around Vic yesterday (a few times actually).

Turns out it looks almost as awesome in gloomy Victoria February as it does in lovely Palm Springs March.

I love fancy cars that actually get used in ugly conditions.
