i have trained avalanche SAR dogs , but the ian bunbury dog school provides training for dogs and their people .

i use positive , reward based methods , but do not consider myself to be a " purely positive " trainer . i do teach how and when to give corrections , and how to introduce them to the dog so as not to damage the relationship .

i also advocate the responsible use of e-collars .

my methods create a dog that is motivated to work to access rewards , whether they be food or toys .

We took our pup to DogSmart, was being run at Trout Lake Community Centre - way back when she was a pup. We came away thinking that it was very good for the dog, and for us. I recommmend them too.

I too acquired a year old Catahoula on new years eve. We found that using the gentle leader (google it) and the clicker method (google it) has been awesome.
