i watched a bit of the superbowl yesterday in between other things. out of casual interest in the spectacle and the prurient interest in scantily clad women i watched the half time show. i picture millions of people of every socio economic rung watching this with their friends and families. i'm thinking of all the young women and girls watching and i can't help but wonder what the message is here to women.
you're a body to be objectified, wag your ass around and grab at your crotch a lot? make sure you grow up to be as sexual as possible? i'm not a father, but i find the general image of women in the American media, especially the pop media like this, to be brutal. and i'm not saying it's a male created problem, i have no idea the root of it (oh wait, money, that's it), but i would be pissed if this was the mainstream image my daughters were absorbing from the media. what's your take, daddy o?
