Death Metal.

I've started getting a bit further into death metal recently. Just came across this band and they're too rad not to share.

Horrendous - Anareta

Horrendous - Ecdysis

They have a real Individual Thought Patterns or Symbolic era Death feel to them. While the rasp-heavy, Schuldiner-esque vocals may not be everyone's cup of tea, they're worth giving a chance if you're into metal.

Ride, don't slide.

I like this thread.

I've got mixed feelings about a lot of the modern techy death metal (a lot is way too much of a guitar-proficiency dick measuring competition), but I'll be damned if this Beyond Creation track doesn't keep me coming back over and over:

THIS THREAD WILL NOT SLUMBER.

Here's some Misery Index, a band that doesn't get anywhere near its due:

Definitely some Entombed worship going on, but still catchy.

Ride, don't slide.

I would have thought Cannibal Corpse would be in the conversation. Aren't they the most popular death metal band of all time?

I've never ever been able to get into them. I don't know if I'm br00tal enough.

I've seen them twice [HTML_REMOVED] believe me, they have a small but very loyal following. Some of the people know every word of every song.

I like metal, including death metal. Not sure if Dragged Into Sunlight counts as death but ever since I found out about them I keep coming back.

How about some frankly terrifying local (Vancouver) death metal?

I am going to have to give some of this a listen sometime. I had never been too much of a metal guy (I am not really sure if I am even using it right) but I really dug the last two Deafhaven albums and the last Russian Circles album:

Also a bit more in that atmospheric category (I have heard it called Post-Metal or Doom Metal, I have no idea what that is supposed to mean).

they're derided by the tr00 / necro purists as hipster black metal, but i like them. got a bit of shoegaze going on that works for me.
