I've owned/wrenched and wheeled domestics for years and I like the simplicity of similar era american vehicles; everything is designed by a ham fisted, mouth breathing american but in general it means that everything's laid out right in front of you, very simple to repair, you can often climb inside the engine bay to see whats going on, spare parts are cheap and plentiful yada yada.
I'm biased because my only experience owning a 3rd gen yota (thought it was a 2nd gen but actually 3rd) was a pain in the ass, everything cost twice as much to replace and took 3x the time and it was really not that great offroad (IFS is kinda sucky).
