So,

If buddy walked in there with a hammer,or a mean karate chop, and took a crapload of people out by hand…no gun…..would all you lefties be like, "Shit, that dude meant business"?

People killed people over ideas.

Let that sink in before we all sit here and blame the tool he used to do the job.

You aren't seriously disputing the fact that more access to guns = more gun violence are you? The numbers are pretty convincing.

We are on par with the Americans in virtually every category of assault - often worse - except for gun crimes where they soar ahead of us.

Here are the statistics relating to children.

America and Gun Violence

In one year, firearms killed no children in Japan, 19 in Great Britain, 57 in Germany, 109 in France, 153 in Canada, and 5,285 in the United States. (Centers for Disease Control)

Every day, more than 80 Americans die from gun violence. (Coalition to Stop Gun Violence)
The rate of firearm deaths among kids under age 15 is almost 12 times higher in the United States than in 25 other industrialized countries combined. (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention)
American kids are 16 times more likely to be murdered with a gun, 11 times more likely to commit suicide with a gun, and nine times more likely to die from a firearm accident than children in 25 other industrialized countries combined. (Centers for Disease Control)

I thought this argument was pretty much settled among intelligent people. I'm not saying you have to be anti gun but the numbers don't lie. More access to guns has a direct correlation with an increase in gun deaths of every category.

Here are some not very current gun death rates per 100,000 people.

Homicide Suicide Other (inc Accident)

USA (2001) 3.98 5.92 0.36
Italy (1997) 0.81 1.1 0.07
Switzerland (1998 ) 0.50 5.8 0.10
Canada (2002) 0.4 2.0 0.04
Finland (2003) 0.35 4.45 0.10
Australia (2001) 0.24 1.34 0.10
France (2001) 0.21 3.4 0.49
England/Wales(2002) 0.15 0.2 0.03
Scotland (2002) 0.06 0.2 0.02
Japan (2002) 0.02 0.04 0

High gun suicide rates in Switzerland and Finland!

Still better chance dying from a car (per 100,000)

Making guns legal or illegal will not change the gun violence stats too much. The only
way to make a dent in them is to stop making guns. Fat chance. So, why does America
have such a high gun crime and many other nations do not? I think it's the attitude
and the culture prevalent in US society and gang/drug related violence. Saying
that guns need to be made illegal is a red herring. Until there's a paradigm shift
in how guns are portrayed and thought about in US society, the law will make
no or little difference. Americans want the easy way out and instead of just getting
in a fight and hashing it out, they want to grab a gun.

The people that want to do violence will find a way to get what they need to do
it. There is no shortage of black market guns in the US and it appears to be getting
easier here in Canada too.

Differing opinions is one thing but suffering fools is a whole other situation.

What a surprise! The right wing controlled media painted the killer as a pot smoking atheist lefty. I'm surprised they didn't say he had an Obama T-shirt on…
