the memorial service is going on right now.

people died, a nine year old died.

This is sad, regardless of what your thoughts are on guns.

^^^^^^^
yes it is I heard the fathers interview and frankly if it doesn't tug at something inside you …..you don't have a soul. I recall him saying how he didn't want her death to become a instrument of politics.

guess that was a fail

I still say why didn't that douchbag sherriff have the guy in jail after he found out he was making death threats?

On average there's 38 funerals for people killed by a drunk driver.

some odd stats (USA):
-only 20% of self defense deaths were by law enforcement

-These are number of Federal inmates:
35% of guns possessed by federal inmates were from Family or friend
2% from a gun show
2% from a flea market
15% retail store
4% pawn shop
only 33% were from drug dealer/stolen/black market

-Victims only shot at the offender 28% of the time (so just showing the gun deterred 72%)
-776 people were killed accidentally by guns
-over 2000 more people die from septicemia than all guns in US
-You are twice as likely to die from the flu in the US than any kind of gun death
-The above numbers include gang related, self defense and people killed by police

-54% of firearm deaths are suicide
-41% homicide (including self defense, police)
-3% accidental

If you're looking at where it's best and worse murder rates:

USA not in top or bottom 10
Nunavut has the highest murder rates in Canada on par with Louisiana.

To protect myself from bears, cougars and other wild animals while working. A rifle slung over my shoulder would get in the way of me working.

I would love to be able to carry one while moose hunting. A little .22 would be perfect.

when i was a kid i used to carry a handgun for checking trap lines and because a rifle was not considered quick enough for self defence against bears, wolverines and cougars

a shotgun loaded sabot/buck/sabot/buck would have been fine, but the draw speed is considered less preferable to a handgun

over/under .410-.22 is the trappers gun btw

meh
