It was 3 concusions in 3 weeks 2 from riding and one from being punched in the head

im pretty sure you are supposed to take it easy (no head hits) for about a month after one concussion… after 3 i have no idea…

There's really no point in trying to tough out a concussion. Even if it means hanging up the bike for a bit, it's a hell of a lot better than being a veggie.

Hate to sound condecending, but what is he doing to get 3 in one week??? If it is riding, take him to the doctor, and make HIM explain the affects of many succesive head injuries.

That's not so easy…Kim lives in Aldergrove but his son lives with his mother in Kamloops.

make him wear a full face helmet 24/7 for the next month…only way to fix it.

show your son the consequences of concussion, maybe he will realize its better to take it easier in whatever he is doing to himself.

if i had to guess, i'd say i had 8 concussions thus far, mostly from skiing, but the worst ones from biking.
in 1999 i had a pretty bad one where i was out for 9 min (severe concussions start at being out cold for 5 min or more). i still feel the effects from it…spontaneous headaches and occasionally impaired vision.

"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed.
This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children."

is that some medical definition? I'd call being out for a minute pretty bad. I've never been out for more than a few seconds and those were some hits…

yea i have 10 and dont rememeber most of my life, pretty much grade 10 and earlier. ive had headaches everyday for about 3-4 years now. um usually i cant string sentences together without stuttering, because how it is in my head doesnt translate well when i try to speak it. i also talk very low and fast. i fully expect to be a vegitable by the time im 30. all from biking, lacrosse, and snowboarding.

yeah bro!!

ive deffinatly had 3 or 4 and find I get a lot more headaches than I used too, 2 from rugby and possibly 2 from riding but only 1 I think. "Ridecraft" was there for my worst one, im not even sure how long I was out for but it was bad.

But the amount of concusions he is getting cannot be healthy. take him to a doctor and get it checked out and let the doc talk to him.

it's not something to take lightly. people should take better care of themselves, and not go biking after a concussion, or plan to be a veggie.

they totally expected me to be brain dead after a blot clot in the brain and 2 weeks in a coma. i just woke up one day "totally fine". i was too young to remember much but my family says i completely changed after that. i do remember years of brutal headaches and speech therapy (i had the same, talked too fast and blended thoughts together).

12 concussions later and there are some pretty drastic effects, including a total loss of math skills (and i was a such a nerd), major memory lapses, more headaches, and i'm sure they contributed in some way to 2 brain hemorhages.

sorry for ranting, but really anyone who is going to go out and put themselves at risk like that needs to think a bit about the long term.

there is way more to life than the next adreneline rush.

ride a horse! 1200 pounds of raw muscle, power, grace, and sweat between your legs…
but riding bikes is still fun!
