Any car guys have an opinion good/bad about the Jeep Liberty CRD (diesel small SUV)?

The few owners I've talk too always mention how incredibly slow they are. It's usually the first thing they say when you ask them how they like it.

Read the C[HTML_REMOVED]D review. It's almost scathing.

Well its not supposed to be a sports car so that's a pretty shitty critique.

Ha Ha! Made you look.

Very true. 300 ft/lb of torque at low rpm is nothing to sneeze at.

the 2012 Passat tdi motors uses a different system and there have been no know problems thus far

I like the new Passats. The TDi piques my interest but so does the 5-banger unleaded model as well. If VW has at least average reliability (compared to the shitshow I had a decade ago) I'd go back. Always nice cars as far as drive-ability and nice interiors, especially if you get leather.

Wrong. Always.

My Dad drives one, it's (I believe) around 200k km on it. Decent torque, drives pretty nicely but in my opinion if you're driving a truck/suv to go fast you're doing it wrong.

I believe he's averaged 25-30 mpg with it. The engine has been dead reliable, the rest of the car has had a couple little electrical/interior issues, windows etc.

They only made them between '05-'06 and we're thinking of getting one to replace our '04 Mazda6 wagon.

the fact they only did it for two years doesn't bode well.

I think they still have a diesel option in the Grand Cherokee.

I'd stay away.

On another note, we just got a Mazda5 and are loving it. Twice as much cargo space as a comparable SUV, with seats 5+6 folded down. It also cruises at a little over 6L/100km on the highway. Sadly no 4x4 or AWD option.
