Jeez I live right in Dodge and don't get that vibe at all. Any new people myself or anyone I know in Dodge run into get a warm welcome and any trail directions they might need. Most locals I know don't want that kind of reputation at all and strive towards community building.

You obviously missed the UROC AGM….

(and you're a total hipster insider there J!!)

I have 21,474,850 rep points...

My blog - read it!

Reason I ask is that the wife is from the island, and has always wanted to get back at some point. If/when we do get to the island Comox would be my first choice.

Your money goes a lot further here than the mainland for sure. Finding good paying work can be a challenge though since the NIMBYs have killed of any industry and most of the construction jobs that once supported the valley. Once you're situated though, it's a freaking awesome place to live. Great restaurants, great hangouts in Cumberland and Courtenay, tons of recreation and (mostly) friendly people!

If you're not over the age of 60, I recommend looking for a place in Cumberland or Courtenay though. The geriatric mafia in Comox is unbearable and the whole freaking town shuts down at 6:32pm.

If we all grabbed shovels, we should be able to turn it into an island relatively quickly. All of the work would have to be done at night though, and by night, I mean Comox night, so any time after 5pm real-people-time.

And all the fill from the channel-digging we'll put over near Lazo to make a reef turning Comox into a surf destination thus making it relevant again
