Was debating where to post this and figured it fits here well enough; it's a interesting article on the causes of the increase in lyme disease.
/\Disrupting the environment and uncovering disease is our theme for the foreseeable future.
On the good news front, how about that fucking climate bill?!?
Remember Mount Polley? A mine that under the watch of the BC Liberals let it's tailing dam fail. A company that had heavily fund-raised for the BC Liberals never faced any charges. A substantial amount of the clean-up cost to the tune of $40 million left with the BC taxpayer (more than 50% of the total cost). A company that essentially walked away facing no real penalties, and yet this company is still seeking permits from the current NDP govt to continue dumping mine waste into the environment and Quesnel Lake. W. T. F. The person at the top is N. Murray Edwards, a billionaire with no apparent conscience. If anything these people made a profit off of the whole disaster after receiving $100-million in "compensation" from the engineering firm that hired the engineers involved and the $40-million tax credit for "cleaning up" the spill site.

Oh and the engineers in question basically walked away scot-free as well as the head guy retired shortly thereafter and never took any responsibility and the person he fobbed it off to only had the license suspended for 2 months.
Related to climate change are the problems microplastics create in our environment.
"...researchers at New Jersey Institute of Technology have shown that ubiquitous microplastics can become 'hubs' for antibiotic-resistant bacteria and pathogens to grow once they wash down household drains and enter wastewater treatment plants—forming a slimy layer of buildup, or biofilm, on their surface that allows pathogenic microorganisms and antibiotic waste to attach and comingle."
The future looks bright eh?

Ive pretty much given up any hope that the planet can be saved at this point.. although I wonder if this isnt their latest planned propaganda branding whatever you call it.
They? Who are they?

The planet will be fine, but humans will have a few thousand years of hard times I would imagine.
The planet will be fine in the same sense that mars and venus are fine LOL

Earth has been through massive asteroid impacts and super volcanoes that erupted for thousands of years. She can recover from humanity.
Meh, the west has been reducing carbon emissions for years. It's more than offset by increased emissions in Asia. The future is out of our hands now, sadly I don't see them doing anything to curb their emissions. At least we won't have to suffer the consequences here in Canada.
Just saw a video over on The Guardian, called "California, I love you" uploaded by FFF if I read it correctly.

Not sure if that is correct, I know that over here in Europe quite a few power plants run on brown coal, and there is no sign of stopping.
Add to this an increase in traffic, not sure where you get the idea that The West has been reducing any emissions for years.
