I wonder what these graphs would look like if the CO2 from manufacturing were tallied to the consumer country instead of the producer country.
You would think that maybe China's CO2 is mostly from producing products for wealthy western nations but it doesn't appear so. It doesn't seem to matter what country you look at, the CO2 is primarily from domestic use of energy.
The article you linked explicitly leaves out production-based CO2: “These figures reflect ‘production-based’ emissions, so do not correct for traded goods”
The link titled “Consumption-based CO2 emissions per capita” shows the data relevant to my post.

I always tend to think that gross level data is somewhat useless in discussions on climate change.
After this weekend, will anyone doubt climate change?
There are those who still think it's just part of a cycle. Earth warms & cools throughout time. But one cannot deny that man has had a large effect on the environment. All I hear is talk about change, but I don't see change because making money is priority. Seems every time I go somewhere in the lower mainland, another swath of bush has been levelled for an apartment building or mall. One might think; "Oh, it's only a small piece of land, there's lots more around". Well if you take those small-ish pieces, they add up to alot. We belong to the earth, it doesn't belong to us.
