If the Sun isnt a problem, why does Bill Gate want to dim the sun (by cloud seeding ooooo).

There's a dimsum joke in there somewhere.

No takers on that?

While President Trump has withdrawn the U.S. from the Paris arrangements, its added carbon footprint turns out to be no worse and indeed better than other major emitters – China, India, Russia, Japan, Germany, Canada, Mexico.

I can't say I disagree with Counterpunch here, as much as I would like to.  The agreements are empty promises and most of the time any actual gains are accidental, like in the case of the US reducing CO2 by hitting a natural gas boom and thereby reducing coal.

A few things keep my hope above water (barely) when I read the estimates.  The idea of slowly getting off fossil fuels was never likely, so thinking reductions will follow a straight line is not really realistic.  Like most things, we will reach a tipping point where electric cars and renewables are just the most cost-effective and practical answers.  The only thing I think we are missing the boat on is nuclear.  Or maybe we are freaking out about nothing and it's a comet strike that is going to get us first.

I think it's too late to keep it below 2 degrees, but it is at least slightly more optimistic.  We need to prepare for drastic change and figure out where Reductimat's bunker is located.

You should hope we make it there. Whats gonna happen when we all freeze though?

Rampant consumerism is one of the problems. All that plastic trash.

Good news, but I feel kinda silly not knowing that this was in the works.  If it is going to be operational in a year I assume it is well underway.
