Pretty sad that those living in Hong Kong can't see the benevolent overtures of what a Chinese rule can give us, amirite FO.

Think of the kick-ass social credit scores Hong Kongers could rack up.  They might get an afternoon tea with Xi himself.

Notice how not only is Beijing not slaughtering anyone but they are also conceding to the demands? How does that fit into your brutal CCP narrative?

I think a better question is why is the government trying to foist repressive policies onto HK residents and even more so why are they not eliminating those same repressive polices in place against the rest of the Chinese population?

The issue here is extradition not a blanket protest against "repressive policies".

And on that note: Could you imagine if somebody commited a crime in Ontario then ran to BC and Ontario had no way to get at them? This is basically the situation in China.

Reductimat: if you're gonna have the death penalty why wouldn't you harvest the organs?

What if organs become motivation for a death sentence?

Optics my friend.  They can't erase what they do there like they did 30 years ago.  XJ is a gangster and doesn't concede unless there is a plan to win down the road.

People def died in Beijing. But that's always gonna happen when people start killing soldiers.

300 PLA were killed that day, either by being burned alive or beaten to death and about 1000 civilians some of whom were combatants but mostly innocent people caught up in the crossfire. Hard to avoid that though when you're a soldier fighting for your life in a heavily populated area.

When they finally arrived at chang' an avenue after hours of battle they ordered the students to leave the square and allowed them to do so. They did not open fire on the unarmed students.

People even get the motivations for the protests wrong. They weren't demanding western style capitalist democracy. They were demanding a more transparent and egalitarian form of communism. The privatizing of state companies by Deng Xiaoping in the 80's caused chaos, and massive amounts of corruption and unemployment. The two biggest demands of the protesters was for a free press and for government officials to report their earnings.

If you ask why do so many news sources report on the massacre of students then I will answer with most of them actually don't. North American news sources are pretty much the only ones in the world that still perpetuate the lie that the PLA gunned down unarmed students in Tiananmen square.

Tl:dr until North American media starts telling the true story of what happened on June 4th 1989 I'm not gonna automatically believe anything they say about China ever.
