...

By the end of 2018, a total of more than 1.04 million articles were included. Out of these, roughly 11,000 have been removed by the internet censorship system.

This approach allow us to detect content that was removed after it was posted — but it misses content that was censored prior to publication. The majority of Chinese social media platforms are equipped with a keyword filter that allows them to automatically censor sensitive information before it is published. A list of keywords is created and constantly updated by state censorship authorities, and then handed down to platform operators. This explains why certain politically sensitive topics such as the Xinjiang re-education camps rarely appear in our dataset.

Many Uighurs outside of China have said they are unable to contact relatives still in Xinjiang . Fearing that their loved ones have been ensnared by the security dragnet, they say they do not even know whether their family members are dead or alive.

The mere act of communicating with someone overseas could spur detention, Uighurs say, and as a result many of their relatives in China have blocked them on social media. On Twitter, Uighurs abroad posted photos of themselves holding up images of their missing parents, children and siblings.

Hey FO, were you one of the ones filming?

In the following days, Chinese student groups published a “bulletin report” about Turdush’s talk. The bulletin, which was co-signed by five McMaster student groups, including the Chinese Students and Scholars Association (CSSA), noted contact with the Chinese consulate in Toronto.

This is fucking frightening.

It's standard operating procedure.  Chinese students should have their nose in their books.

How long until Canada becomes as awesome as China?  (Before you start, yes this happens a lot in Richmond but you know why).

Isn't it neat how quickly and willingly our companies fold?

This whole idea of reclaiming the motherland sounds a bit suspect, but I can't imagine it has ever gone wrong historically.

At this moment, China has as many as one million Uighurs, Kazakhs, and other Muslim minorities held in concentration camps in Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region (XUAR) in northwestern China. This has been ongoing for some time now and is beginning, finally, to be noticed.

This unfolding tragedy is well-known by the United Nations as well as influential governments such as the United States. Thus far, little is being done to prevent the Chinese from carrying out its concerted efforts in imprisoning and politically indoctrinating its Muslim populations.

It is so objectionable that Badger Sportswear of North Carolina announced it stopped purchasing imports from that region of China due to credible reports of mass forced labor.

As bad as we have it here, the Chinese have it worse.

We have a better chance at French Revo 2.0 over them by any measure you have a ruler for.
