Thai Yala, is ultra casual, almost like a small diner but some of the best Thai food I've had in the City.
Seconded. Speaking as someone who lived across the street from Thai Yala for many years, it's the best Thai on Lonsdale for sure. Have yet to find one better yet in this city. Bonus entertainment is the family's hyper efficient kids serving and managing bills. Those kids are awesome.
Also there is an Indian Fusion place up on 19th (I think it's 19th) that is pretty good too
Indian Fusion is just awesome. We went there consistently from the time it opened til we left North Van. Miss that place. Gets real busy on weekend evenings though so go early or get reservations. Weekdays are usually just fine. They make pretty good Indian themed pizzas too. Butter Chicken pizza ftw!
Wendy's on Main St. It's where the trailbuilders eat.

^^ not true. Get a Chicago Southsider sandwich at Parkgate Safeway. It'll survive in your pack next to the beer much better than a frosty and a value burger.

Funny. I thought I saw one at Wendy's last night.

yeah, yeah, sure, sure…
what, don't you say "hi, don't I know you from the interweb?"
Back to NV tonight. Last time it was Tamarind Hill. Where should we go for dinner?
what kind of food would you prefer?
Hit up the white spot for a legendary combo and a pint of Nat Bailey pale ale.
Being an agoraphobic adrenaline junkie would be pretty convenient, because you could get your rush from just going to the store to get some milk instead of having to jump off a mountain or out of an airplane.
they also call me "balloon"
another vote for Mumbai Masala on 16th (next to where NS Bike Shop used to be). Or if you want an oil soaked garlic [HTML_REMOVED] onion fest that sticks with you for the next week go across the street to Andrea's.

Open to suggestions, but not looking for a chain. We can get that anywhere in Metro-Van.
How'd you guys like Tamarind?
