Your citing CNN and think I've lost the plot! lol...

Venezuela Coverage Takes Us Back to Golden Age of Lying About Latin America

CNN was ridiculed recently (Redacted Tonight, 2/1/19) when it carried a report on Venezuela, “in the socialist utopia that now leaves virtually every stomach empty,” followed immediately with a cut to a demonstration by the right-wing opposition, where everybody appeared to be quite well-fed.

Look at the info being presented, it's factual, verifiable and about real economic issues. Examine the economic fundamentals of why Venezuela's economy is in such a mess, it's about much more than just US sanctions. That CNN article was just the first one I clicked on but there were a bunch of others stating a similar story.

Here's four more that examine the financial crisis in Venezuela, you might note that it's not just pinned on US foreign policy. I think your hate for your own political regime colours your perception at times.

It seems that a large part of the world sees the crisis in Venezuela having certain causes and you and your truth dig article want to pin it on something else. You losing the plot is simply a case of being overly selective with your information sources and their angle.

I get it. You are with the capitalists.

You Canadians are dispicable. You sit back cheering on the the yanke as they do the dirty work, (oh once and while, Libya for example, you'll join in and kill people) undermining, sanctioning, starving and finally bombing a helpless third world country rich in resources into submission. Then when the shooting stops your mining interests swoop in and rape the landscape (and indigenous peoples - literally - who happen to be in the way) while offshoring the  profits.

The anticipation on Bay St. must be palpable.

So go back home then you fool. Dont like that one? Go find another. Or better yet check some facts about shooting - Maduro's people were the ones killing his own citizens.

You probably know that it's not just the USofA in Venezuela? You can find reports of Russian, Chinese and even Iranian "people" in that country. Call me a traditionalist, but I'd rather have some 'Merican intravention than any of those.

No you don't get it. No, I'm not with the capitalists. No, I'm not cheering on the yanke to do dirty work. Yes I detest some Canadian mining companies records abroad.

What I am with is the objective observation of ALL relevant data and then assessing a situation based on that. When someone wants to spin a story based on limited information they're going to have an incomplete and often incorrect version of events. It's like someone walking into their LBS and saying asking the clerk guy for two tires for their bike. They may be 100% correct that they need new tires, but without all the relevant info there is no way the clerk can give them what they need.

I'm pretty sure he does get it - he just has way of being inflammatory while pigeon holing people who disagree with him and the motherland Counterpunch.

They wasn't. It were just any easy gig to drop some bombs and kill some folks without getting their hands dirty and along the way earn accolades for being "with us" instead of "agin" us.

Sounds like he said she said to me. No real hard or confirmed facts there. Their “sources” can’t even agree on the some of money “donated”. I also have a hard time believing anything to do with Libya

Bernie's full of shit. He only agitates domestically, never does he subtantively challenge empire.

He's the one who hatched the bizarre idea that the "west" give the Saudis funds and liscense to police the middle east.

But can he do the Kessel Run in under 12 parsecs?

I just got back from Venezuela and I’ll be writing a lot about the country next week. Virtually everything you read or see about the country in the U.S. media is a lie. And to be clear, I don’t mean skewed or misleading or incomplete, I mean a lie.

“My first trip to Venezuela in 2004, I was producing the big debate show on Canadian TV called Counterspin on CBC Newsworld. … . I was a known quantity in Canada. And so when I was in Venezuela, I said I’ll go say hello to the Canadian embassy. I was trying to figure out what was going on in Venezuela. I figured some Counselor would pat me on the head and say welcome to Venezuela.

No, I got the number two chargé d’affaires that greeted me and brings me into a meeting room with seven members of the opposition who then for two hours beat me over the head with how corrupt the regime was, how awful it was, and so on…

What business does a Canadian embassy have with bringing a Canadian journalist into a room with opposition people, essentially trying to involve me in a conspiracy against the Venezuelan government. Canadian government role in Venezuela was promote and nurture the opposition.”

What does CP have to say about the mass exodus into Columbia?  Just another example of Venezuelans doing so well for themselves they have decided to go on vacation?
