hey nsmb cheapies.

real estate is a funny game. i have been through times where i felt really rich and times i felt really poor and everything in between. trouble is, i am a spender. i love spending

the wife has convinced me that we can save a lot more $$ if i stop spending like a greek during pride week if we budget.

so… best budget software? I'd prefer something that auto integrates with my online banking and portfolio but that is not a must

something that integrates with my new awesome ipad would be awesome

and married/committed relationship men… if you budget how do you hide stupid spending from the wife? I assume every third commission cheque will have to be cashed with money stored at my office in an envelop but i am looking for input here.

If you are the big spender in the family and your wife is not then you could try the following without software.

- Hand all incoming monies over to your wife "no cheating"
- Agree on a monthly allowance for each of you that has no restrictions on what you do with said allowance
- leave all debit, credit, cash that is not part of your allowance home or with the wife.

I do this and it works well, I now save up my monthly allowances to get what I need if it costs more than my monthly limit "which is 100.00 per month"

I also keep the age old saying "A penny saved, is a penny earned." at the forefront of my mind.

I live in constant fear of spending money and always ask my wife if I can buy something. It helps because we have rarely been broke. The sound of a cracking whip is loud isn't it?

i heard hiding shit in your ceiling at your office is a good way to hide it.

Being an agoraphobic adrenaline junkie would be pretty convenient, because you could get your rush from just going to the store to get some milk instead of having to jump off a mountain or out of an airplane.

they also call me "balloon"

You're trying to save money, so the first thing you want to do is run out and buy some software? Buying stuff isn't going to save you money. It's simple, really, just don't buy stuff you don't need, and then you'll be rich. No need for anything fancy.

Ceiling of offices is a great place for mountain bikes but now that I have moved on to dirtbikes, boats and snowmobiles it gets a little tougher.

your wife is obviously golden and your last paragraph tells me that you are not fit to drink her bathwater

what I hear you say is you want a budget program which will tell you how far over budget you went every month ?

what you need to do IS … just don't spend money

me I don't budget but I don't spend much I have an inner sense of what I spend ,its pretty simple spend way less than you make and … now I don't work

I don't use her accounting skills but I have one of those proper little english bookeepers who can do amazing things with accounting programs ,her hands fly ,she uses the hotkeys and shortcuts and I can't tell what she is doing but its amazing

its not about how much money you make its about how much money you didnt spend

I have sold a bit of gear to guys who try to hide it from their wife but she ALWAYS finds out and BUT then she will ratinalize it by just being glad buddy is not an alcoholic/gamblaholic/pornoholic/mother raper/father raper

When you are planning to buy something, ask yourself if it is a need or a want.

(Need = groceries, utilities, etc)

If it is a want, put it off till the next day and see if you still want it. Try to keep pushing the wants out farther.

Years ago I used an Excel sheet, then started using Quicken. Never stuck with it but it was a good eye opener to see where the cash goes.

There are a bunch of Google doc templates as well.
