What are you reading right now?

I just finished "No One Gets Out of Here Alive", a biography of Jim Morrison. Interesting guy. He's what happens when a smart, motivated person does a lot of psychadelics and booze. I like his mysterious personality, people could never tell if he was messing with them or not.

Just started "Stand and Deliver, Inside Canadian Comedy". It's an in depth look at Canada's contribution to comedy on an international level. It focuses on why so many great comics have come out of Canada.

Also been catching up on my Canadian Geographic and National Geographic.

I'm reading Mordecai - Life and Times. A biography of Mordecai Richler. Very interesting and entertaining. I read Keith Richards' assisted autobiography this summer and it was lots of fun. I was surprised by how much he talked about music. Some sex and drugs as well of course.

Cascadia - the Elusive Utopia by Douglas Todd
Generation A by Douglas Coupland

Both were slices of totally random reading. I enjoyed the Cascadia book, it was…enlightening. :mullet:

"A Place Called Armageddon" by C.C. Humphreys

Its a work of fiction but follows the 1453 siege of Byzantium with considerable historical accuracy. He's also written an excellent trilogy based in early Canada including the Battle of the Plains of Abraham centred on the fictional character of Jack Absolute. Highly entertaining and historically accurate.

If you like that book you would probably like Little Princes by Connor Grennan. It's about Nepali orphans from the ongoing civil war. I think you have mentioned you've spent some time in Nepal. I spent some time at one of the affiliated orphanages so he's legit.

I started reading the Heroin Diaries again after hearing a Six:AM song being played at a strip club the other night.

Reading Lolita in Tehran by Azar Nafisi. It's a great read, particularly in light of Iran's current state, and the fact that I grew up listening to news about the Iran/Iraq war.
