looking for some recommendations on some books that will help me with business topics,
Me = at the end of the month will be my 1 year anniversary in business and I'm quite proud, the jump was terrifying but I'm glad I did it. I've based my business on 3 rules, 1. Always be honest/Treat people fair 2.Do quality work 3.Charge fairly( to me and the customer). To me this goes a little beyond business, just be a good person work hard and things will work out. Now on to the books, I feel my principle rules are a great start but I would like to expand my knowledge to help me grow personally and to grow my business. A quick search came up with many lists of books to read, anyone read any of these, The 7 habits of highly effective people, The E myth, Guerilla marketing, How to swim with sharks, The personal mba, Think grow rich, How to win friends and influence people, The millionaire next door, what about the wealthy barber or rich dad poor dad. So if you've read any of them or have a must read, let me know your opinion, Reps for you. Thanks

That's a good list you have already. Rich Dad Poor dad is inspiring but should be taken with a grain of salt.

Over and over again I find the 80/20 rule to be an excellent critical point of view when making decisions - see Tim Ferriss for more on this.

"How To Get Rich" by Felix Dennis is a great read.

You can safely ignore Rich Dad Poor Dad, Kiyosaki is the modern day equivalent of Tom Vu.

Good list. The ol' "standards" tend to be popular, because they offer the most practical/best advice. This is why Think and Grow Rich is still popular after almost 80 years. It's the only book that was ever recommended to be me as a business student by my mentor.

The Wealthy Barber gave me a great grasp of personal finances in my early 20's. It will probably be a good read, but what you get out of it will more depend on where you're already at with that. Never read Rich Dad, Poor Dad.

I was going to ask what type of business, before noticing the link in your sig line. Before asking about specific books I'd have some thought about what areas/topics you're interested in most. You mention a few.

A business like yours depends on attracting and retaining customers. You can do that through marketing or word of mouth. You mention guerrilla marketing. Social media is great for that nowadays, so some books on how to use facebook etc to connect with customers on the cheap would be worthwhile. Also being a small business owner any books on managing a small business would have useful advice. Lots of aspects to that - managing cash flows, tax topics, HR, financing, contract/business law etc. Networking might be another good topic. And then all the intangibles / personal growth topics you mention. Sorry I can't recommend anything specific. Getting some good advisors can be important too. Books can bring things to your attention but its hard to beat direct advice when it can be related to your specific situation. Best of luck!

Good list Of books Champ (havent read that Rich Dad Poor Dad)although those lean more towards a holistic view of personal development. Both in business and personal life. Good reads though.

For more straight on business habits magic get hold of the Jim Collins books, the best to start on is "Good to Great" . Then move on to "Great By Choice" Amazing books, based on research and real data obtained by studying successful companies and the people they have hired. Google info on Good To Great, you'll be impressed.

Consumer reviews of "Good to Great" are here:

There's a copy on my desk right now, if you are passing by Mission, PM me I'll stick the book in my mailbox for you to borrow.

"Mastering the Rockerfeller Habits"

All very practical and based on real world examples.

Well for now I got Think and grow rich, and The E-Myth Revisited: Why Most Small Businesses Don't Work and What to Do About It. I started with think and grow rich which im already half done, I might even finish it and read it again, although I just happened to come across the original 1937 video on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UmCtWskzmAQ I might just watch that. Thanks for all the recommendation, looks like a might be doing quite a bit of reading.

I would suggest really starting from basics and looking seriously at the Bible.

It can improve your life in many ways

Ha.

When one person suffers from a delusion, it is called insanity.

When many people suffer from a delusion, it is called religion.
