Since you're planning on holding Bitcoin long term, have you looked into a Cold Wallet (either an offline wallet or a hardware wallet). Exchanges and online wallets can be pretty vulnerable, just look into the Nicehash heist. - Edit* What PaulB said!

Keep in mind too that '$127 worth of Bitcoins', was 2017 Bitcoin. Sniffing at half a BILLION USD now.

The US has printed some 3 trillion dollars in the last year alone, so it's no wonder everything is getting more and more expensive, I really dont see crypto going anywhere and especially with institutional adoption increasing now, that's the difference between this run and the one back in 2018 Wich was mainly retail driven.

That was one of the two I was thinking of.  I’d lose so much sleep, what a nightmare.

I think I read a follow up where he had a venture cap behind him, and offered the city half the proceeds and they still won’t/can’t let him dig for that hard drive.  Gov’t bureaucracy at its best.  LOL

Crypto isn't going anywhere, but there is a lot of crypto so one could take over from Bitcoin.  Bitcoin is kind of weak on the tech side of things.  The other concern is if the governments get their collective panties in a bunch.

Depends where the power is coming from. Most mining is powered by hydro or some other renewable source.

Crypto mining also uses less energy than gold mining which you can arguably say also produces nothing of any value other than what we collectively decided gold is worth.
