McAfee is a totally crackers.  He will probably eat his dick regardless.

Well ... he does design solid, unassailable PC-protection software.  I mean, like, if slowing down your computer is your goal.

He got started scamming people into thinking they were vulnerable to viruses and then showing up to save the day.  He is hardly a trustworthy source of information.

What if he is or part of Satoshi?

And now he is pumping Bitcoin to jack the value of his horde to the moon and become the world's first trillionaire?  If this isn't already a conspiracy theory, I think you need to see if you can start it.  Seriously.

You mean he's a sheep fucker too?  Or did you mean "on the lam"?

I'm definitely not on the lamb. But it's damn tasty.

Reminds me of the old nursery rhyme ...

Mary had a little lamb

with mint sauce and peas.

Is McAfee a kiwi..? And since Lam is an asian last name, he could be on one of those as well...

Well, I am sorry for being 2 years late on this thread, however I must say that I have been ignorant towards this subject, just like the author. The difference is the fact that I have been ignorant until last month. I mean, when I have seen that the bitcoin has reached the 30.000 bucks mark, I was like, what the actual hell is going on in here?! Right now, I am thinking about investing in the crypto market.

It's a roller coaster riding a track of pure speculation.  It will almost certainly crash again because the underpinning of any currency value is actually using it widely as currency which can't be said of any crypto.   Wait for the next crash if you want in, but it is a casino so I would think about that before spending much.

At some point I think big money will be made for anyone holding the crypto that becomes the standard and a lot will be lost by people that pick the wrong horse.

I am still haunted by a lunch I was at in 2011 when someone was talking bitcoin and 3 of us lectured him on how stupid it was.  If only I would have thought of it as a lottery ticket and put $10 in just in case rather than looking at it as an investment, it'd be worth millions today.  oh well

I did buy a little bit mid 2020 just because FOMO a second time

Is this the real Whore of Gear?  It's like flashback Wednesday in NBR.

I am kicking myself as well.  My colleague has a brother in law that went all in on Bitcoin before I have even heard of it and set up a server farm in his basement.  We didn't know what it was but thought we should throw in a couple hundred bucks in a wallet because it sounded cool and we could maybe buy stuff with it.  No thought of it being valuable.  It was complicated to get money in a wallet so we gave up.

That brother in law is either rolling in cash or kicking himself really hard right now.

Yes it was complicated. You can keep it on the websites you buy from these days, but there is always a chance they will pull a quadriga. Crypto isn't regulated by anyone, it's the wild west.

My brother got in when you could mine on a typical home desktop CPU and the reward was 50 BTC per block. He's pretty happy with how things have worked out.

He's even happier now.  Retired last year on what he made off the last peak and he's still cashing out during this run.

I've got a tiny fraction of a coin that I bought years ago for $20 that is now worth $800.

I was kicking myself for not investing a few years ago. I was talking to a coworker and he told me how to buy it etc. I set up an account at Qaudriga but when they wanted my SIN # and stuff I chickened out, a year later buddy 'died'. So I mean even though Bit is worth so much right now, I was never not going to invest through Q because that was the only avenue I was aware of and would have lost it all anyway.
